Homeopathy is a gentle, natural healing modality that has over 220 years of clinical history. It is the second most widely-used system of medicine in the world. It is a holistic and individualized modality, which means that every client is matched with a remedy that resembles their unique symptom picture through diligent observations of their entire being: not just physical symptoms, but mental and emotional symptoms too. There is no one-size-fits-all in homeopathy; the way in which you experience your "dis-ease" is unique to you. Homeopathy uses those unique symptom expressions as a map in finding a well-matched remedy that addresses your entire health on all three planes (physical, cognitive, emotional).
When given appropriately, homeopathic remedies are safe for all ages including pregnant women, nursing mothers, children, and infants. Homeopathic remedies are economical and regulated by the FDA. They are made through a process of dilution and agitation, and work by stimulating the body's own healing mechanisms. Homeopathic remedies are free from harmful chemicals and side-effects and can be used alongside conventional medicine without interfering with their action.
Classical, Hahnemannian Homeopaths prescribe only one remedy at a time. Most homeopathic medicines are able to address symptoms on all three planes: physical, cognitive, and emotional. Only one medicine at a time is needed to address a person's entire symptom picture.
As Hahnemann’s new system of medicine was developing, perhaps at the forefront of his mind was the physician’s Hippocratic oath of “first do no harm.” Prescribing only one medicine at a time was, I believe, a part of his effort at keeping this oath.
Like mainstream medicine today, chemical medicines of Hahnemann’s time were often given many-at-once, and in large, material doses. At worst, this practice caused harm and even death to the patient, and at best it obscured the physician's knowledge of the medicine that was actually helping. The same goes with homeopathy; giving too many remedies at once makes it almost impossible to discern which remedy is actually helping, and for which symptoms. From a practical standpoint, giving one remedy at a time ensures accurate case-management by eliminating the variables of other remedies possibly at work.
It is also the most gentle way of healing in that there is one clear message being given on how to heal the entire organism, instead of many messages at once, which can nullify or confuse the vital force. Taking only one medicine at a time is economical, especially as compared to other systems of medicine and supplement regimes.
Homeopathy has grown in its’ complexity and divergence over time and one must be careful not to be drawn in by charismatic charlatans, false practitioners and teachers who make it very appealing but nonsensical in its approach. This can often be dangerous in that the actual issues do not get attended to and valuable time and money is lost. In this era of ‘New Age’ it is often fashionable to use complicated, divergent, expensive techniques, remedies and modalities that sound impressive to the layman but rarely bring about a lasting effect in terms of regaining health. Classical, Hahnemannian homeopathy is the truest and original form of homeopathy. It is the simplest, most elegant, most predictable, and gentlest approach to healing.
Modern western medicine is the only major system of medicine that denies the existence of a basic, underlying life force that dictates the health of all living things. This reductionist view of medicine is curatively ineffective, and thankfully, not shared by Homeopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, or Shamanism (to name a few systems of medicine). These holistic healing systems acknowledge that all living things are animated and directed by a life force. In homeopathy, this force is known as the vital force, dynamis, or life principle.
Just like we cannot see the forces of gravity or magnetism, we cannot see the force that enlivens us. Homeopathic medicines, in non-material doses, predictably effect humans including infants and unconscious people, animals, and even plants: essentially anything that is alive. The vital force is what enlivens us, and that is where true health and disease originate, not on the bio-chemical plane. The symptoms we perceive are simply expressions of underlying "dis-ease," not the disease itself. Homeopathy addresses the underlying state of health via interacting with the vital force, helping the body to heal itself.
Homeopathy treats your unique symptoms as they are experienced by you. Oftentimes people will have a myriad of issues that they need help with. Head pain, joint pain, digestive troubles, trouble sleeping, fatigue, recurring coughs, seasonal allergies, and emotional issues are just a sample of what homeopathy can treat in a person all at once via one, well-selected medicine.
Contrary to what popular social media will tell you, yes they do. It is a myth that there are no ‘side-effects’ with homeopathy. Anytime a remedy or conventional medicine is given in overdose, it will produce side-effects. If this were not so, homeopathy could not conduct its pathogenic trials (more commonly known by as 'provings').
The difference between chemical side-effects from conventional medicines and the energetic side-effects of homeopathic remedies is that energetic effects are usually minor and do not harm, poison or create addiction. They just indicate that the remedy has been given in too large a dose, too often, or in an unsuitable potency. Once the remedy is stopped, they disappear. As a positive, they are credited with having a strengthening effect on the person’s vitality.
A skilled homeopath not only seeks to prescribe the right remedy but also in the right potency, the right size of dose, and at the right frequency for the person’s sensitivity to avoid unwanted effects.

For deeper, long-lasting chronic issues, you can roughly estimate needing one month of homeopathy for every year you have dealt with a symptom. Most homeopathic journeys begin with an initial consult, and require roughly 4-6 follow ups, every 3-6 weeks. As your strength returns and your symptoms subside, follow-ups are spaced further apart and less of them are required to keep you in a state of wellness.
No. Remedies are intended to support the body's natural healing process and are used only for as long as needed. As the body progresses through its healing journey, and symptoms subside and shift, we may adjust your remedy accordingly. It's important to note that remedies are never to be taken in the absence of symptoms, so once you feel well you can stop taking the remedies with the guidance of your homeopath.
In short, yes. There are many misconceptions and outright falsehoods about what homeopathy is and isn't. No one, especially a Christian, should ever violate their conscience; it is our guide to avoiding sin. However, it is important to be accurately informed to make rational decisions.
